About the Reverie Mental Health blog

The Reverie Mental Health Blog launched in March 2025 by me, MacKenzie Kampa. I like to write about my clinical interests as well as provide information about clinically-relevant things for patients or other consumers of mental health services.

If this sounds like a vague summary, that's because it is a vague summary. I'm really stretching my writing muscles here and hope to get better as time goes on.
If you're wondering whether you want to stick around or even subscribe, I'll at least tell you about my current clinical interests as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner: perinatal mental health, psychoanalytic/psychodynamic psychotherapy, psychosomatic illness, anxiety and OCD, PMHNP education standards, Big Nursing, personality research, military medicine and mental health, parent/child attachment, integrative psychiatry (esp. clarifying what is BS and what might be worth trying, according to science), ethics in mental health, emergency psychiatry and disaster mental health, medication prescribing and deprescribing, philosophical underpinnings of mental health treatments, philosophy in general, metacognition, the unconscious, this is turning into a longer list than anticipated.

Outside of working as a clinician at Reverie Mental Health, I have a few passion projects that keep me busy. I run a consultation operation called PMHNP Coaching & Consulting, where I work with other PMHNPs on issues or questions related to their clinical confidence and competence, and business-related concerns like how to code for visits without relying on internet gossip. I'm also in the early stages of building out The Integrative Psych NP with my colleague and friend Sarah, a PMHNP in California.
